Fix Optus fetch box won’t connect to internet

The fetch box won’t connect to the internet! If you see this message popup and are starting to get irritated by it, then maybe this guide might help you to get rid of this annoying problem.

Generally, fetch needs a minimum of 3Mbps speed for it to operate smoothly. It is possible for it to be affected by issues such as Wi-Fi Interference. So if you discover that you are having difficulties connecting to your Wi-Fi, first try to move the Fetch box closer to the router, before anything else. If this still doesn’t work, then I suggest you take a look at what’s going on by running the Fetch Internet Diagnostics scan.

Hold on a minute!

When you purchase a Fetch box, you can use it for a few days without an internet connection, to watch Free-to-Air TV or recordings, but after that you’ll see a Box Locked or connection error message, if that is the case then you will need to reconnect your box to the internet before you can use your Fetch box again.

To run the Fetch Internet Diagnostics scan., simply follow the directions below:

  1. First of all, you have to press the “Menu” button, then navigate to “Manage” and then “Settings”.
  2. Then press the “Paw” Button
  3. Navigate down to “Diagnostics”, then press the “Paw” button.
  4. Then scroll down to “Internet

After following the above steps the program will run a series of tests that will check your Wi-Fi or Ethernet Connection, your IP Address, your Internet Connectivity, and the Service Connection. If after the diagnostics scan, you still are having problems with connectivity, you can try resetting the fetch box itself. Here is how:

Resetting Fetch box

Note

Resetting your Fetch box can resolve many issues but will clear all your settings at the same time.

Soft reset

Performing a soft reset on your Fetch box clears all settings but won’t remove any of your recordings.

To perform a soft reset on your Fetch box:

  1. Turn off your Fetch TV box and wait for at least 30 seconds, then turn it back on
  2. Within 2 minutes of restarting your Fetch box, press Red > Green > Yellow > Blue on your remote
  3. Keep pressing these buttons in order until the R or Paw light on the Fetch box starts flashing red. This usually occurs after the screen turns off and on
  4. Once the Fetch box restarts, you will need to enter your activation code and complete the setup process

Hard reset

Performing a hard reset or factory reset on your Fetch box will clear all settings and remove any recordings you currently have on your Fetch box.

  1. Turn off your Fetch TV box and wait at least 30 seconds, then turn it back on
  2. As soon as your screen shows Preparing System, press Blue > Yellow > Green > Red on your remote
  3. Keep pressing these buttons in the order above until you see the R or Paw light on the Fetch box start flashing red. This usually occurs after the screen turns off and on
  4. Once the Fetch box restarts, you will need to enter your activation code and complete the setup process

Conclusion

If after resetting, the problem still persists, then I suggest you contact the support team, and they’ll help you out. If you’re not with Optus for your Fetch TV service, please contact the service provider for further assistance. Thank you, and I hope this was helpful enough to get your internet connectivity fixed on your Optus fetch box.
