Are you are one those people who always seem to forget where they placed their phones and have a hard time struggling to find it even when someone is calling you? (I know I am😉). Do you sometimes just wish that you could extend your phone’s ring time so you do not have to grab your phone from wherever it was at the last minute only to find out you missed the call? Then you are in luck, cause this trick posted below teaches you just how to do that. No more missing out on important calls because your phone somehow mystically developed legs and decided to play hide and seek with you 😂.

Extending the ring time on Optus

You can do this by changing the ring time before a call diverts to voicemail or before a call diverts to another number.

Changing the ring time before a call diverts to voicemail

To increase (or decrease) the time before your voicemail picks up an incoming call:

  3. Press ‘Call’ or ‘Send’ on your phone as though you were making a normal phone call.

  4. Press ‘Call’ or ‘Send’ on your phone as though you were making a normal phone call.

Note

If you are overseas or you happen to be using roaming, use the codes above and simply replace: ‘321’ with the international access number: ‘+61411000321’

Having problems with call diversion or ring time?

  • If you hear a recording saying that they can send the number to you instead of the call being diverted: It probably means that Missed Calls Service is active. To remove the Missed Calls Service, dial 159 from your mobile and follow the prompts.
  • If your phone does not ring at all and yet you keep receiving voicemail messages: you might have Unconditional diversion active. You will need to cancel it in order to ensure you have a chance to answer the call.
  • If your phone diverts to a disconnected tone: Try cancelling and re-activating your diversions, as the number it is diverting to may be incorrect.

Conclusion

With these few easy steps, you should be able to extend your ring time on Optus. If the above methods still don’t work for you, then it will be best to check the Manufacturer’s Guide on Optus webpage for advice on how to set diversions from your handset. Thanks for your time
